This week: a heat map of NYC’s startup ecosystem, our new Build Sessions format, and community updates.
Where is the center of startup action in New York City? Where do founders & operators actually work, meet, and gather, in 2026? Here’s our take:

Startup Central: The NoMad-Flatiron-Chelsea area reigns supreme, with the highest density of startups and scale-ups. The epicenter is between 20th and 29th Street, 8th Avenue and Park Avenue. A more generous definition extends this South towards 14th Street. Who’s there? Harvey, Ramp, Clay, Antler, FirstMark Capital, etc. People meet for a coffee at maman or a walk through Madison Square Park.
SoHo: Not quite as dense as the NoMad-Flatiron-Chelsea, and dominated by retail on the street level, but many heavy hitter VC funds sit here, and a healthy amount of startups and scale-ups. Find a16z, General Catalyst, Thrive Capital and more here, plus OpenAI, Polymarket, Kalshi, Plaid, etc.
Williamsburg: New developments like the Domino Sugar Factory and 25 Kent are putting Williamsburg on the map. Come here to meet friends at Whop, LayerZero, and Contra at Domino, and companies like General Intuition, Fonzi and Altana at 25 Kent. Great views, right by the East River, and a more chill environment than Manhattan.
What this means in practice: If you’re hosting an event, or evaluating an event to attend, proximity to one of these clusters is key. If someone is hosting a Tech Week event on the UES, it's a signal. Probably not worth the commute.
We understand that we may be biased here, so feel free to share your pushback and comments with us.

We’re excited to host our first Build Session on Friday. Build Sessions are meant for hands-on work, with the opportunity to get input and feedback from fellow NYC founders & operators. We’ll spend the afternoon co-working from a Members’ Club. If this sounds like you, come join us.
We just crossed 1,000+ members. Thank you for being part of this journey - we’re excited to have you, and to continue building out the community. For more context, and our philosophy, read our manifesto.
